What it involved

The goal of this project was to automate the processing of online orders for flight simulation addon software, and to distribute, manage and authenticate serials for them. The client develops and sells software, and needed to reduce the workload required to run their business on a day to day basis. They also wanted to implement piracy protection within the installer, and to be able to associate each serial with a customer for traceability and accountability.

Initially, the orders were only received from Paypal, but the application was later upgraded to also accept orders from Simmarket. Orders are processed without any intervention from administrators unless something in the order is inconsistent or incorrect. Administrators can then process it manually, or investigate using informative alerts, emails and logged messages. The core requirements were:

• Simmarket and Paypal API integration
• The ability to manually create, edit and disable orders and serials, and to be able to leave comments and history
• The ability to add, edit and delete products.
• Automatically import serials for a product
• Setup Factory installer script for online serial authentication
• Secure authentication and verification of received orders
• Order processing records and history for a paper trail audit

The application was developed from the ground up as a bespoke solution, but was subsequently upgraded to the application also being used by Latin VFR.

What it involved

The goal of this project was to create a website that list deals and discounts that are available to people in Ireland, as well as money saving tips and advice. The client had a very clear idea of what they wanted in terms of features and look and feel, which included:

• A database of deals which could be easily maintained by administrators
• A Content Managment System (CMS)
• A Blog
• Newsletter subscription, composition and archive functionality. A newsletter based on deals in the database should be generated with a single click
• Deals listing with search and filtering
• RSS Feed syndication
• Search engine optimisation

The website design was created by a third party who was hired by the client, so I did not have much input on the aesthetics or layout

What it involved

The goals of this project were to create a website that served as:

• A secure online reservation system which allowed people to make a reservation at the hotel.
• A brochure website which presented the hotels many qualities to potential customers.

I developed a bespoke booking engine that gave the hotel staff complete control over rates, rooms, facilities and special offers. The system also surveyed customers about their experience after they stayed, and presented the staff with the results in statistical format. The design was produced by a freelance graphic designer hired and managed by myself. Please note: This website is no longer online.
